FX Compass is an independent, one-person project built and operated by Zak (contact via Telegram or bettercallzak.com). This page explains what data is collected when you use fxcompass.io, why, and what choices you have.
Data collected automatically
When you visit the site, Google Analytics 4 may collect anonymized usage data — pages viewed, approximate location (country/city, derived from IP), device and browser type, and how you got here. This only happens if you accept analytics cookies in the consent banner. If you reject or ignore the banner, no analytics cookies are set.
The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes standard server logs (IP address, request timestamps) for security and performance, independent of your cookie choice. This is a legitimate interest necessary to keep the service running and safe.
Data you provide voluntarily
- Email newsletter: if you subscribe, your email address is stored by Buttondown, our email delivery provider, solely to send you the newsletter. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in every email.
- Telegram bot: if you start a conversation with the FX Compass Telegram bot, your Telegram chat ID, first name, and language preference are stored to deliver weekly currency updates. Send
/stopat any time to delete this data immediately.
No account, password, or other personal identifier is required to use the core dashboard.

Legal basis (GDPR)
- Analytics cookies: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you can withdraw at any time.
- Essential cookies and server logs: our legitimate interest in operating and securing the site (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
- Newsletter and Telegram bot: your consent, given by subscribing or starting the bot.

Some of these providers process data outside the EU/EEA (e.g. the US); they rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards.
Data retention
Analytics data is retained by Google Analytics per its default retention settings. Email addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Telegram bot data is kept until you send /stop. Server logs are rotated automatically by Cloudflare.
Your rights
Under GDPR and similar laws, you have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your data, restrict or object to processing, and withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these rights, contact us via Telegram or bettercallzak.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Children
FX Compass is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

This policy may be updated occasionally to reflect changes to the site or applicable law. The date at the top of this page reflects the last update.
